AI Cover Generator — Reimagine Any Song
Hitto’s AI cover generator takes a song you own and re-records it in a different genre, vocal style, or arrangement. Keep the lyrics and melody, swap everything else.
What an AI cover is (and isn’t)
Is: Reimagining your existing song in a new musical style. Lyrics and core melody preserved, instrumentation and vocal style replaced.
Isn’t:
- A voice clone of a real artist (Hitto won’t do this; most platforms shouldn’t either)
- A copyright-bypass tool for commercial songs you don’t own rights to
- A magic “make it sound better” button — the cover is only as strong as the original song’s bones
What you can do
- Genre swap — pop → acoustic folk, indie → K-pop, rap → orchestral, etc.
- Vocal style swap — male → female, solo → group, smooth → rough, English → Mandarin (or any of 10 languages)
- Tempo + arrangement swap — uptempo → ballad, electronic → unplugged
- Era swap — modern → 80s synthwave, contemporary → vintage soul
How it works
- Pick a source song — one you generated on Hitto, or original audio you own
- Describe the target style — “acoustic folk version, male vocals, fingerpicked guitar, slower tempo”
- Generate — Hitto re-records with the same lyrics and core melody in the new style
- Compare side by side — keep the better one, or iterate
Where AI covers shine
- Demo variation — show A&R, producers, or sync licensors how the same song could land in 3 different styles
- Multi-platform releases — release the original on streaming, an acoustic cover on YouTube Shorts, a remix for SoundCloud
- Content creators — turn one song idea into multiple variations for different videos
- Creative experimentation — find the right style for a song before committing to the final mix
What it’s not great at
- Songs with complex jazz harmony — reharmonization in the cover sometimes flattens the original
- Songs in extremely niche genres (e.g., grindcore, microtonal) — limited training data in target style
- Preserving exact melodic ornaments — the cover follows the melody but may not nail every grace note
Legal note
Cover the songs you have rights to. AI doesn’t change copyright law — covering a commercial copyrighted track without licensing is the same risk whether you do it with a band or with AI. Hitto generates the audio; the rights work is yours.
FAQ
Can I cover any song with AI?
You can cover songs you have rights to (your own originals, public-domain, or licensed). Covering copyrighted commercial songs without permission has legal risk regardless of the AI tool used.
What does "genre swap" mean for an AI cover?
You take a song in one genre and re-record it in another — e.g., a pop song reimagined as acoustic folk, or an indie ballad turned into K-pop. The AI handles arrangement, instrumentation, and vocal performance in the new style.
Can the AI clone a specific singer's voice?
No. Hitto generates AI vocal performances in stylistic categories (e.g., "soulful female vocal," "rap delivery") but does not clone real artists' voices.
What input does the AI cover generator need?
Either a song you've generated on Hitto, or original audio you own. You then describe the target style (genre, vocal type, mood) for the cover.
How is this different from regenerating a song?
Regenerating produces a new song from a new prompt. A cover keeps the lyrics and melody and re-records them in a different style.
